Pi de Bruijn completed his studies at the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in 1967. He then left to work at the Architects Department of the then London City Council in Southwark, London. On his return to Amsterdam, he worked for the Municipal Housing Department, until he established himself as an independent architect in 1978, as a partner in the Oyevaar Van Gool De Bruijn Architecten BNA bureau.
In 1988 he founded de Architekten Cie. together with Frits van Dongen, Carel Weeber and Jan Dirk Peereboom Voller. Since 1998 the partnership was formed by Pi de Bruijn, Frits van Dongen, Jan Dirk Peereboom Voller, Branimir Medić and Pero Puljiz.; since 2012 Pi de Bruijn, Branimir Medić and Pero Puljiz.
The first realized building by Pi de Bruijn, the Transvaal community centre in Amsterdam, won him the accolade of the Merckelbach Award. De Bruijn gained international renown as the architect of the new accommodation for the Lower House of the Dutch Parliament. His design for the Reichstag in Berlin won first prize in the first round, and he subsequently realized part of the Jakob-Kaiser- Haus. For the Beursplein shopping arcade in Rotterdam he received the Nederlandse Bouwprijs (the Dutch Building Award). He also designed the Essent headquarters in Den Bosch, the Zwitserleven offices in Amstelveen, and the extension and restoration of the Concertgebouw Concert Hall in Am- sterdam. In the role of supervisor and urban planner he was involved in the development of Amster- dam’s ArenA area and with the Amsterdam Zuidas (Southern Axis) development. As a urban planner he designed the reconstruction of the firework disaster area Roombeek in Enschede. Pi de Bruijn has a wealth of experience as an architect and urban planner in projects that are complex, long-term and sensitive.
Pi de Bruijn served as a university professor at the TU Delft from 1993 to 1998.
'Superuse. Connecting flows to improve urban ecosystems' van Jos de Krieger (architect, Superuse Studios). (inleiding op 29 juli 2013 Grote Kerk 32, Oude Markt te Enschede)
Tijdens de lezing gaat Jos de Krieger in op het concept van Superuse, een strategie waarbij recycling in de architectuur vanuit breed perspectief wordt benaderd. Zowel het hergebruik van materialen als de duurzaamheid van transport en bouwproces staan daarbij centraal. Daarnaast vertelt hij over het optimaal gebruik van in- en uitgaande ‘stromen’ in de duurzame stad. Aan de hand van een aantal recente projecten zet hij uiteen hoe filosofie, onderzoek, ontwerp en uitvoering bij elkaar komen in de werkwijze van Superuse Studios.
Jos de Krieger (1984) is opgeleid aan de faculteit Architectuur van de TU Delft, waar hij in 2009 afstudeerde als architect. Sinds 2006 is hij werkzaam voor 2012Architecten, dat sinds december 2012 de naam Superuse Studios draagt. Daarnaast zit hij in het bestuur van Eetbaar Rotterdam en is hij lid van CO3Rotterdam, een platform voor jonge professionals op het gebied van innovatie. Superuse Studios ontwerpt strategieën, producten en gebouwen voor een duurzame maatschappij. Het bureau ontwikkelt processen die lokale uitwisseling en productie stimuleren, als alternatief voor het huidige wereldwijde transport van materialen, producten en onderdelen. Superuse Studios laat bovendien zien hoe omgaan met afvalmateriaal mogelijkheden biedt voor innovatief ontwerp.

After graduating in architecture (1998) from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany, Henriette Bier has worked with Morphosis (1999-2001) on internationally relevant projects in the US and Europe. She has taught computer-based architectural design (2002-2003) at universities in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. Her research focuses not only on analysis and critical assessment of digital technologies in architecture, but also reflects evaluation and classification of digitally-driven architectures through procedural and object-oriented studies. It defines methodologies of digital design, which incorporate (Intelligent)Computer Based Systems proposing development of prototypical tools to support the design process. Results of her research have been published in books, journals and conference proceedings. She regularly leads workshops at universities in Germany, Italy and Belgium, and teaches at design studios within Hyperbody and SpaceLab at TU Delft. Currently, she is project coordinator of the workshop and lecture series on Digital Design and Fabrication within DSD (Delft School for Design).
Michiel de Wit streeft ernaar om tijdloze architectuur te realiseren. Zijn ontwerpen kenmerken zich veelal als helder en iconografisch vormgegeven objecten. De interieurs van de projecten zijn daarentegen veelal verrassend en ruimtelijk van opzet. Door middel van onder andere doorkijken, binnentredend daglicht en verschillende vloerniveau’s ontstaat er een enorme rijkdom aan ruimtelijkheid. De ontwerpen zijn specifiek en uitgesproken en zoeken naar een versmelting van functionaliteit, ruimtelijke beleving en zorgvuldige vormgeving. Michiel de Wit heeft zijn eigen architectuurbureau genaamd Project.DWG.
